 The news was made by the 33-year-old via a Facebook post following Bangladesh's outstanding 3-0 series victory over West Indies in one-day internationals.


Tamim made the declaration shortly after Bangladesh defeated the West Indies by four wickets in the series' last one-day international in Guyana, sweeping the Men in Maroon 3-0. 


The seasoned batter won the "Player of the Series Award" for his 117 runs scored in 3 innings at an average of 58.50.


The opening hitter was applauded by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on its official Twitter account for winning "Player of the Series" in a photo post.

Tamim had returned to the shortest format after a six-month sabbatical earlier in January. Nevertheless, he participated in a domestic T20 tournament at this time.


 Although he opted out of the UAE-hosted T20 World Cup in2021, he emphasised that he hadn't given up on the format at that time.

The explosive opening batsman has featured in 78 T20 Internationals for Bangladesh since his debut in September 2017 and has scored 1,758 runs at a strike rate of 116.96 in those games.


 In March 20202 in Mirpur against Zimbabwe, he last participated in a T20I match for his nation.


Tamim is the only batter from Bangladesh to have recorded a century in T20Is. Against Oman, he accomplished the outstanding achievement during the 2016 T20 World Cup in India.


He concluded his T20I career as the third-highest run-scorer for his country in the competition, after only current skipper Mahmudullah Riyad and Test captain Shakib Al Hasan.

In ODIs and Test matches, the left-handed hitter will still play for the Bangladesh Cricket Team. In the 50-over format, he is just 57 runs away from becoming the first hitter from his nation to reach 8000 runs

. He currently has more than 14000 international runs, 25 centuries, and 91 half centuries to his name.
