Its popularity was anticipated by Florence Pugh. At Valentino's couture show in Rome this past July, the 26-year-old British actress wore a Barbie-pink gown with layers of tulle and an entirely transparent top.

Pugh emphasised this point on Instagram, chastising her body-shaming critics with the following statement: "Why are you so afraid of breasts? Small? Large? Left? Right? just one? perhaps none? What. Is genuinely terrifying.

"I feel like I'm now in a career rut where I know what I can give, what I can take, and what I won't take any longer," the speaker said.

Fans have grown accustomed to Pugh's blunt, frank comments. She made her big-screen debut in Carol Morley's The Falling in 2015 as a teen girl coming to terms with her sexuality, and since then, she has developed a career portraying strong women. 

She has appeared in nearly two dozen films over the past seven years, including her breakthrough roles in two 2019 movies: Greta Gerwig's version of the famous classic Little Women and Ari Aster's indie horror blockbuster Midsommar, which won her an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress.

"I believe Florence reflects her generation so brilliantly because she actually appears at ease in her own skin, in my opinion.

Scarlett Johansson, who acted alongside Pugh in the 2021 Marvel film Black Widow, praises Pugh for being both tremendously grounded and incredibly confident.

Johansson could answer that. She describes talking about relationships while filming an action scene with Pugh when they were "I don't know, 30 stories in the air, attached to this pole." 

Johansson recalls in wonder that Pugh "could be talking about any foolish person that she dated, and then two seconds later, we were just attached to each other, holding on by this Then the director gave the command, "thread for life."

It's a fitting description of Pugh's Alice Chambers in her most recent film, Don't Worry Darling, a psychological thriller in which Pugh co-stars with Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde, who also serves as the director. 

In the lovely 1950s desert village of Don't Worry Darling, every male inhabitant works at the enigmatic Victory Project. 

The women's days are spent in a typical housewife's cycle of vacuuming, laundry, shopping, ballet lessons, martinis by the pool, and multi-course meals. Alice starts to doubt everything once one of the wives vanishes, including what they are all doing there, where their husbands actually go, and her own reality.

The supporting part of Bunny, a neighbourhood wife with a stylish wardrobe and witty one-liners, was initially given to Pugh. 

An opportunity to play Alice presented itself after the pandemic interrupted production and schedule underwent a significant upheaval.

(Wilde ultimately played Bunny.) Pugh admits that accepting the role of the protagonist was "a different beast," but the choice to make the switch was simple.

Since the start of production on Don't Worry Darling in the fall of 2020, gossip websites and Styles fans have obsessively followed every piece of information. As soon as Wilde and Styles started dating, the internet went crazy. The sex scenes were naturally the focus of attention when the teaser first appeared in May. 

"It's not why we do it when it's reduced to your sex scenes or watching the most famous man in the world go down on someone. It's not the reason I work in this field, explains Pugh.

Simply said, I'm not going to talk about that because [this movie is] better and bigger than that. And the creators are more and better than that.

"Just because I have this position, doesn't mean I believe everyone's life should be scrutinised and recorded. We aren't contestants on a reality TV show.
