Florence Pugh is just being honest

She hasn't watched the movie, which will make its debut at the Venice Film Festival later this month, but it is clear from her respect for the cast and Covid nurses who came to the set as early as 2 a.m. to make sure the film's production got done.

If I could yell about one thing, she says, it would be that these people were behind the film. They were punctual in arriving each day and showed complete respect for the procedure.

Pugh was one of four children raised in Oxford, England, by her mother, a former dancer, and her restaurateur father. 

She participated in school plays and gave performances at her father's cafés, but she never had any official training. At her mother's urging, she submitted a video audition in response to an open casting call for The Falling.

Pugh's voice has a low rasp as a result of tracheomalacia, a condition that can lead to frequent upper respiratory infections and bronchitis. 

Pugh spent the early stages of the pandemic on lockdown in Los Angeles to protect her health. She sought solace in the balmy climate and spread happiness on Instagram with her "Cooking With Flo" videos. She was eager to return to her work, though. 

She claims that one of the reasons why everyone does this is because they fled with the circus. "I believe that one of the draws for me is that I get to travel, meet people, make friends with them, and fall in love with them before moving on and repeating the process."

The circus can, of course, develop a life of its own. In 2019, when Pugh and actor-director Zach Braff started dating, much was said about their 21-year age difference. 

Pugh considered the encounter to be intrusive and harsh.

"Whether it's paparazzi capturing private moments, moments that aren't even genuine, or gossip channels encouraging people to share intimate moments of famous people out and about," she continued. 

"I don't think people should have every aspect of their lives scrutinised and recorded just because they work in this field. We do not take part in reality television.

Braff and Pugh discreetly called it quits earlier this year. Since everyone has an opinion about their relationship, Pugh explains, "We've been attempting to do this separation without the world knowing."

"We simply believed that doing something like this would help us avoid hearing from millions of people who are delighted that we are not together. So that's what we did. 

Before their breakup, the two worked together on the novel A Good Person, which will be released the following year and is about a young woman who must put her life back together after an unexpected catastrophe.

Pugh was a focus when Braff was writing the script. According to Pugh, doing the movie with him was one of his or her finest experiences.

Additionally, it gave her insight into her future professional goals. "I feel like I'm now getting into this groove in my career where I'm knowing what I can take, what I give, and what I will not accept anymore," says Pugh, who also stars this fall in Sebastián Lelio's expansive Netflix film The Wonder, recently finished production on Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, and started filming Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two over the summer. 

Pugh also recently wrapped work on Christopher Nolan's Inception. Being a part of these recent films with some of the greats has been a tremendous opportunity for me to get back into the "This is what you want to do" frame of mind. But for the young actress, employment isn't everything.

I'm currently designing my kitchen in London, says Pugh. "I'm literally designing it specifically to be ready for 'Cooking With Flo,'" the designer said.

Even so, some people, at least, have not been shaken by the commotion.
