ChatGPT, The Wonder of Technology.

What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an AI-powered natural language processing tool that lets you have human-like conversations with your chatbot and much more. A language model can answer questions and help you with tasks like writing emails, essays, and code.

Use is currently open to the public as ChatGPT is in the research and feedback phase. As of February 1, there is also a paid subscription version called ChatGPT Plus.

Who created ChatGPT?
ChatGPT was created by OpenAI, an artificial intelligence and research company. The company launched ChatGPT on November 30, 2022.

OpenAI is also responsible for the creation of
DALLE•2
, a popular AI art generator, and Whisper, an automatic speech recognition system.

How big a business is ChatGPT?
It sure made quite a stir. "ChatGPT is scary good. We're not far from dangerously strong artificial intelligence," said Elon Musk, who co-founded OpenAI before leaving. Sam Altman, head of OpenAI, said on Twitter that ChatGPT had more than 1 million users in the first five days after launch. Altman told Musk that the average cost of each answer was in the "single-digit cents," but admitted that he would eventually have to monetize it because of the "eye-watering" computational cost.

According to analysis by the Swiss bank UBS, ChatGPT is the fastest growing application of all time. In January, just two months after its launch, UBS analysis estimated that ChatGPT had 100 million active users. In comparison, it took nine months for TikTok to reach 100 million.

How do you access ChatGPT?
You can access ChatGPT simply by visiting chat.openai.com and creating an OpenAI account.

Once you're logged in, you can start chatting with ChatGPT. Start a conversation by asking a question. As ChatGPT is still in the research phase, it is free to use and you can ask as many questions as you like.

I tried using ChatGPT and it says there is capacity, what does that mean?
ChatGPT is free to use at the moment as it is still in the research phase. Due to the buzz its advanced capabilities have created, many people are flocking to use it. A website works with a server, and when too many people jump on the server, it becomes overloaded and cannot process your request. That doesn't mean you'll never have access to it. It just means that you should try visiting the page later when fewer people are trying to access it. You can also keep the card open and just refresh it periodically.

How do people use ChatGPT?
In addition to answering simple questions like composing essays, describing art in great detail, creating AI art challenges, and conducting philosophical conversations, the model has many features, and it can even code for you.

How does ChatGPT work?
ChatGPT runs on a language model architecture created by OpenAI called Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT), namely GPT-3. Generative AI models of this type are trained on vast amounts of information from the Internet, including websites, books, newspaper articles, and more.

The language model was fine-tuned using supervised learning as well as reinforcement learning. The use of Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) is what makes ChatGPT especially unique. According to OpenAI, human AI trainers through RLHF provided the model with conversations in which they played both the roles of users and AI assistants. The company also shares that ChatGPT is fine-tuned from the GPT-3.5 series model, which is fine-tuned from the GPT-3.5 series model.

What is the difference between ChatGPT and a search engine?
ChatGPT is a language model built for end-user conversation. A search engine indexes web pages on the Internet to help a user find the information they have requested. ChatGPT does not have the ability to search for information on the Internet. It uses the information it has learned from the training data to generate the answer, which leaves room for error.

"The primary problem is that while the answers ChatGPT produces have a high rate of incorrectness, they usually look like they could be good, and the answers are very easy to create," the Stack Overflow moderators say in the post. Critics argue that these tools are simply very good at putting words into an order that makes sense from a statistical point of view, but they cannot understand the meaning or know whether the statements they make are correct.

Another major limitation is that ChatGPT data is limited to the year 2021. The chatbot is not aware of events or news that have occurred since then. Therefore, some prompts you ask will not return any results, such as "Who won the 2022 World Cup?"

Some conversation starters can be as simple as, "I'm hungry, what food should I have?" or as elaborate as, "What do you think will happen in the afterlife?" Either way, ChatGPT is sure to have the answer for you.

Why are some people afraid of ChatGPT?
People are expressing concern that AI chatbots are replacing or atrophying human intelligence. For example, a chatbot can write an article on any topic efficiently (though not necessarily accurately) in seconds, potentially eliminating the need for a human writer. A chatbot can also write an entire entire essay in seconds, making it easy for students to cheat or avoid learning how to write properly. This led to some school districts blocking access to it.
